ath·lete | \ ˈath-ˌlēt , nonstandard ˈa-thə-ˌlēt \
Definition of athlete
1: a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina
LOL, it's obviously a sport or a game....in fact, it was one of the first EVER sports or games and a version of it was in the original Olympics.
It's not a sport or game if it has a judge. Even Pankration had judges.
At that point it's an exhibition or exercise like figure skating or a beauty contest.
A sport or game doesn't have a subjective observer decide the fate of the participants. Referees, acting in accordance with rules, are obviously ok to facilitate a sport/game.

Wow, 0 for 2 on such simple general knowledge.
Again, happy to help you out:
sport
noun
A1 [ C ]
a game, competition, or activity needing physical effort and skill that is played or done according to rules, for enjoyment and/or as a job: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dic.../english/sport
The NFL will be surprised to hear they aren't a sport because they have so many judges officiating. And tell us, what role does the judge play in UFC for a knockout?

Well, you are making a semantic argument that the entire history of sports disagrees with. I can accept that your personal definition differs from everyone else for the sake of a conversation, but I'll still end up rejecting that definition along with everyone else.
Arguing that some of the very first sports ever invented aren't sports is certainly bold but here's the typical definitions of the word.
an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature
a game, competition, or activity needing physical effort and skill that is played or done according to rules
An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
Basically any common definition you go with will include combat sports such as MMA as sports.
So a Golden Gloves fighter that was also a gymnast....And you therefore think the average gymnast would fare well against a UFC fighter? Man that makes no sense.
Read the question asked, really slow.
It can go either way.
A gymnast would hang better fighting, than a UFC guy trying to Master an inverted cross on the still rings.

I mean, it's not a competition. Call it what you will but any kind of exhibition that is arbitrarily decided isn't a real sporting contest. It's just that - an exhibition.
The NFL judges are interpreters of rules. They don't rule on who wins and loses. Football is a sport.
If all MMA fights required a knockout or death of a participant then you'd have a sport. It's a glorified exercise.

It's not a sport if I can't objectively determine the winner based on a goal - most points by putting a ball in a hoop, scoring the most runs, putting a puck in a net, etc.
It's exercise. It's athletic. It takes skill and training. Sure. Aside from the knockouts where an objective has been met it's combat gymnastics.
It has come a long way from matched pistols at 10 paces
