Obama has no power to do anything about that. The Senate has simply ignored the nominee at least a dozen times in our history of confirming 115 justices. I believe President John Tyler had 6 nominations in a row that were simply ignored. It's a fair move in a game that has very few rules. Obnoxious, sure, but it's been done many times and there's nothing the President or anywhere else can do about it.

It's not exactly apples and oranges.

When Merrick Garland was up, the Democrats AND Republicans were in the early stages of primary season. Neither party had even selected nominee and primaries/debates etc., were still going in full force. If this happened when it was clear the race was going to be Clinton vs. Trump...I'd understand the Senate holding off. Feb of 2016 is almost a year before the Jan 20th inauguration.

If the GOP is OK rushing this through, that's fine. Now, if the Dems win the Senate and decide to stack the court by adding 4 or even 6 seats, I don't want to hear any complaining.
