It's telling when you look at who wants more debates and who is hoping for no more debates. That's when the true answers about who did well at the first debate comes out. If Biden did well, his supporters would want more, if Trump did well his supporters would want more
I think this debate proves the debates are worthless. Everyone already knows the difference between these two candidates and the parties they represent.
The main value of last night was to put to rest Trump's number one go-to reelection campaign strategy--that Biden is not competent. Once that was established as a lie, the value of any further debates was diminished, IMO. A waste of time for both sides.

There is an old expression: Never try to debate with a moron.
No second debate. Biden should have left when the dotard started his second grade behavior. But he stuck it out, for what reason nobody knows. The spread is still ten points or so, and nobody was swayed one way or another by that mess.
Biden is right where he needs to be. Run a ton of ads with Donald's support for right wing agitators like Proud Boys and run out the clock. Trump can never come back from this deficit unless Putin or one of his Arab buddies comes to his rescue as happened in 2016.
Trump created the demise of our Nation. Let him choke on it now through the election of our next President.
Maybe Trump should have left when Biden told the sitting president of the United States to "shut up, man!"

Republicans will continue messaging about Biden's cognitive decline. It makes no difference that up is up and down is down and it's all on tape; repeating the opposite ad nauseum will convince some people. But hopefully you are correct that anybody marginal on that basis watched and is convinced.
The left has been looking for an excuse to not let Biden out of his basement. This is it.
One of the takeaways from last night for me was how feeble and weak Biden will be as a president. Trump at least is a strong presence & fighter that doesn't take any crap.
