Well, Newt certainly has expertise in bias and arrogance.
It is time to abolish the Commission for Presidential Debates, which has become biased, arrogant and obsolete. Newt Gingrich very effectively makes the case in the article below.
And former Republican Presidential Candidate Bob Dole seals the deal, with the following tweet, in which he states that he knows all the Republicans on the Commission and that none of them support President Trump. He goes on to characterize the Commission as biased and unfair.
So that will hopefully do it. There can still be presidential debates after the end of the Commission for Presidential Debates. The format for those will just need to be negotiated directly between the candidates.
To be fair, this Commission has been biased all along and should have been put out of its misery for sure after the 2012 debate moderated by Candy Crowley, at the very latest. But after the dramatic mishandling of these debates orchestrated by this Commission this election cycle, there can be no further excuse. It must be ended.
At least I get to think more kindly of Bob Dole, whom I did not vote for. (I voted third party from 1992 to 2012.)
Logistically, you'd HAVE to have an organization/board of members facilitate the debates.
You can't just put the two candidates in the room and each draw straws for who is going to do the following duties:
1. write up the rules
2. locate and pay for the venues
3. hire security
4. contact the media
5. choose and hire the moderators
6. advertise
7. and on and on
Why not?
