This actually proves my point about just how authoritarian a move it is.

So what you are saying is that you support this move to stuff a 6th far right con on the court 8 days before the election so that the court can strike down anything the D Congress passes and Dems can’t pass anything even if the American people choose Dems in the election.

That’s a completely absurd and undemocratic position and it’s not going to work. If Dems win control of the government, then they will get to decide the agenda, including judicial reforms.

Republican judges don't write laws.

We have a common law system, both the courts and the legislature make law.

So why was the Biden rule applicable in 2016 but not in 2020? Republicans come up with the weak excuse that Trump is up for reelection and Obama wasn't...like somehow that makes some sort of difference.

Bald face hypocrisy. Just admit it. They did it the way they did it in both instances because they could get away with it. And if the Dems would have "done exactly the same in those circumstances" and made the same lame reasoning for it...they'd be just as hypocritical.

I don't think you understand what the word authoritarian means...

When there is a vacancy in the court, the president nominates someone to fill that vacancy and the Senate confirms it rejects them.

That's literally always how it works. The fact that an election is coming up does not change that.

Your unconstitutional far left agenda is DOA.... so you support attacking SCOTUS in order to be able to steal from the people and violate the constitution.... and you're trying to call others authoritarian? LOL.

Different situation, the Senate approved of the nomination this time around. There was nothing stopping Obama from nominating ACB

Steal from the people?

No that’s what you’re doing by not allowing the people’s choice to replace RBG, as McConnell previously championed (even way further out), and as has been tradition this close to an election.

Obama put up a nominee that had true bipartisan support for the DC Court of Appeals...his nominee was one of the best nominees ever...
ACB is only being supported by 1 party.
Republicans are hypocrites.

Yeah, well it was even "wackier" for McConnell and the GOPers to violate every norm of the Senate, established rules of Senate committee practice and basic human decency in shoving through a SCOTUS nomination in clear and direct violation of their own words and practices

So, no, there is nothing at all wacky about Biden musing about ways to take back the SCOTUS seats that Trump, McConnell and the rest of the GOP has stolen

I sincerely hope Biden does this and will be disappointed if he lets McConnell's lies and machinations control the court against the will of the voting public
