He's driving through Dallas, very red city, alone, and there are 100 cars behind him honking and waving Trump flags and yelling.
You're WRONG to think he had no reason to be afraid. Crowd behavior can turn on a dime.

Dallas is not red. Dallas county voted overwhelmingly for Clinton in 2016 as opposed to Trump. Mayor and city council are all democrats. Guess you didn't know that.
Fear had nothing to do with the bus driver's actions. It was embarrassment, which was the whole point of the Trump train following the bus. Gotta give it to Trump supporters - they do have a sense of humor.
