So right now maybe 40% of the population is adhering to masks, social distancing and hand washing. So that population has shown how much of an impact on reducing flu just with them doing those measures.

Now imagine a world where 99.9 percent of Americans wore masks, social distanced and washed hands...COVID (which spreads easier than the flu).....could be almost mitigated.

Nothing smells fishy unless you try to spin what you hear to fit something far fetched.

The last month has seen a spike in COVID as we all get more complacent about the issue.

I suspect we will see more -- not as much as in years without any masks or social distancing.......but still more -- flu incidents.

An excellent reply -- The best one on this thread!! (They want people vaccinated)

There's a vaccine for the flu right now. I'll go out on a limb and say more folks have been getting it due to Covid.

Flu season is not at its peak yet.

Per the CDC:

Quote:
Following widespread adoption of community mitigation measures to reduce transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, the percentage of U.S. respiratory specimens submitted for influenza testing that tested positive decreased from >20% to 2.3% and has remained at historically low interseasonal levels (0.2% versus 1–2%). Data from Southern Hemisphere countries also indicate little influenza activity.

In one day!

That was the average for the entire world back in July.

How did we do this people? No one is better at Coronavirus than us.

Yet for some reason people are far less alert than when we were averaging at 20,000 cases a day.

Explain: How is the country more relaxed at 200 thousand than they were with 20 thousand?
I didn't get Covid 19 but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

More testing. Duh.

Apparently since everyone is following all mask-wearing mandates, staying home, washing hands and social distancing, flu should be at an all time low.

But since no one is following mask-wearing mandates, staying home, washing hands or social distancing, COVID cases are sky-rocketing.

How's your cognitive dissonance today?

Lol. It's much easier to control the flu because it's much less contagious.
Not to mention that there is as always a vaccine.

Flu is down because there is some mitigation practices going on instead of none. And has been stated, the flu isn't as contagious a bug as COVID is to begin with.

COVID is "sky rocketing" yes. But it would be multiple times worse if no one was doing anything. So even "sky rocketing" levels of COVID are decreased compared to what they would be otherwise.
