Trump ran as a fake populist in his first election. He capitalized on the refugee crisis resulting from the wars started by his opponent with his promises to end the forever wars and stop the flow of immigrants. His economic program was the same as the Republican party's which was to dismantle the public safety nets.
It's interesting that the media basically ignored Trump's utterances that he wanted to dismantle Social Security, Medicare, and Obamacare. It was caught just once but not constantly repeated like the other themes, mainly his inaction on Covid and Russia again.

It's not true that Trump wanted to dismantle SS. Making changes to keep it solvent is not dismantling it. Obamacare had a negative impact on many Americans.
