The left just doesn’t get it. It has nothing to do with Trump the man, it’s his policies.
The left votes on their feelings, that Trump caused them to feel bad because he was mean on Twitter. But the right does not care about that nonsense.
Now would the left accept Trump? No, because he hurt their feelings.
Trump was previously a registered Democrat - according to Wikipedia (for what that's worth), "Trump's political party affiliation has changed numerous times. He registered as a Republican in Manhattan in 1987, switched to the Reform Party in 1999, the Democratic Party in 2001, and back to the Republican Party in 2009" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politi...f_Donald_Trump). Definitely not a lifetime Democrat, at any rate. Some believe the party switching has been for business convenience or political expediency. Who knows. But his ideology doesn't slot in perfectly with any party.
But I do agree with the previous posters, there is no way he finds himself back in the Democratic Party. I don't think he'd be welcome, and I don't think he'd be interested either. Railing against the Democrats is a large element of his brand.
Thank you for taking interested in U.S. politics. An overwhelming number of posters here are in the U.S. or ex-pats so people tend to assume that's where posters are from (although your screen name does kind of give a big hint!).
Trump's liberal policies align with democrats more. Not surprising given that he's from New York.
LOL. Yeah no. This is one of the posters I was talking about thats been going on non stop about Trump being a Democrat. The Trump supporters have savaged that argument repeatedly.
Trump is no conservative theyre kinda right there-despite the vast majority of "conservatives" voting for him-but he absolutely is not a Democrat.
Its like calling a orange a avocado because its not a pineapple.
so higher chance Trump will form a new party if he leaves GOP?
A lot of people are thinking this is a real possibility. It's too early to say. I think it depends on hoiw the Republican Party is treating him 6 months after he leaves office. If they aren't being sufficiently deferential, he may very well either try to form his own party or perhaps just settle on being a very powerful independent. If he does that I wouldn't be surprised if his attacks become more vicious against the Republicans than the Democrats. But if the Republican Party is happy to let him play the role of kingmaker, he may stick around.
