Please read this article. I know it’s long but entirely worth it.
The time has passed for us to quibble about domestic affairs for the time being. We need to squarely focus on China. They’ve cost us trillions of dollars with the coronavirus. They’re meddling in our politics. They don’t care who wins, they want to sow discord because it weakens our standing in the world.
They have ambitions to be the new superpower and they will get there and dominate the world if they can. The sooner we can awaken to this issue and address it as a unified nation the better. This is not a left or right post. I’m just extremely concerned about this country.
We have the Quad, and have met with Vietnamese leaders, paving the way for them to potentially join. There has been movement, but China can't be dealt with on a national level. It needs to be global. Could Trump have done more? Maybe. But the globe has been dealing with Covid for the last nine months, and the UK has had its own pressing issues for the last couple years.
And, if we're being honest, most things Trump tried to do were met with screaming, kicking, interference from the Democrats. Even the good things he managed in other areas of foreign affairs were downplayed to the point of making his opponents look ridiculous, like the progress in the middle East with regard to Israel.
Problem is, most nations - influenced heavily by their corporations (including this one) like them some cheap Chinese goods and labor. They like to benefit NOW, and like so many nations do, just kick the can down the road.
One of the very few things that is an actual concern for me with a Biden presidency is that we'll see China's aggression in the South China Sea and the Indo-Pacific region be ignored (and US aggressions heighten around the world). It was one of the drivers that made me vote for Trump this time, when I hadn't in 2016.
