Considering the incredible backlash there has been against whatever this "letter" thing is, I think you can rest assured it's not true that your "country is being ruined and we can't stop it".
I think it's against TOS to post a GoFundMe page, but their page raised $90 to "light up the neighborhood" before it was taken down.
Yep for all we know he was just trying to get people to pay his electric bills.
If real, though, it was just one letter. I'm a proud lib and I'm not offended by light displays and don't know anyone who is. I do feel badly for the neighbors of people with crazy light displays. I've heard of some who can't even get to their driveways at Christmas with all the gawkers. That would get old quickly.p

Does it seem to you that this news story is taking the side of the letter writer?
Years ago, the MTA in Baltimore had one of its bus drivers dress up as Santa and drive the various bus routes. I think if you got the Santa bus, you got to ride for free, or something like that. Anyway, I remember running into the driver during the summer, and he looked and acted exactly like you'd expect Santa to be during his off months: happy, joyful, spreading good cheer to his passengers, even though he was dressed as an MTA bus driver instead of as Santa. By the way, the driver was black.
So, yeah, after meeting that man, the notion of a black Santa actually seems pretty normal to me. I don't know if he's still employed as a bus driver or not (this would have been something like 20-some years ago), but if you've ever wondered what Santa did in the off months, he drove the M-9 bus route up Reisterstown Road.
I am personally offended by holiday lights. Especially since so many lost loved ones from COVID-19. We should be standing in solidarity with the victims of coronavirus, not showing off and flaunting a product of capitalist society. It's just not fair.

I grew up in Brooklyn and we used to have a department store called A&S. My mom took me to see Santa. They had two Santas, one white and one black. The line for black Santa was shorter, so that's the Santa I saw, even though we're white.
This was almost 50 years ago, so Black Santa is not a new thing.

Seems the exact opposite, to me.
The story was against the writer, yes.
But the letter itself is my issue, because it exemplifies the insanity wave that started way back with participation trophies and is now a tsunami, unstoppable.
Oh how I WISH this sort of letter/viewpoint was an oddity instead of the new way of things.
