Don't let confirmation bias get the better of you. There's a STRONG chance this is Chinese propaganda. Withhold judgement on the veracity of this until a LOT more information comes out.

Perhaps you should find out who the source is before swallowing it whole and becoming fearful. Could be the Chinese version of D'nesh Desouza.
According to the Department of Homeland Security approximately 370,000 Chinese nationals studied in the U.S. during the 2018–2019 school year; they accounted for more than a third of the entire international student population in the U.S. Over 21K Chinese nationals are currently working legally in the U.S. on H-1B non-immigrant visas. Some have even been allowed to served in the the military if they possess needed critical skills. There is no way to properly vet these people to ensure that they're not Chinese intelligence agents or members of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). The Chinese are exploiting our system to engage in espionage and steal trade and military secrets.
Then there is the matter of Chinese birth tourism. The Chinese government encourages women in the third trimester of their pregnancy to travel to the U.S. to have their baby. If the baby is born in the U.S. they're eligible for U.S. citizenship. ICE and DOJ have identified and prosecuted numerous Chinese nationals running birth tourism schemes.
Anyone that believes that the Chinese haven't been infiltrating our nation for years isn't paying attention.
