Why isn't news media talking about this BS?
Churches that don't pay a dime in tax dollars getting millions of tax in Covid relief.

Multimillionaire televangelist Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Texas netted $4.4 million in bailouts through the federal COVID-19 relief program, records show.

The Houston megachurch, the largest in the nation with 52,000 weekly congregants, received the forgivable Paycheck Protection Program loan in late July, the Houston Business Journal reported Sunday.
The loan was the third-highest in the Houston area during all of July and August, the outlet noted, citing federal data.
Lakewood’s PPP check went to 368 full- and part-time employees, spokesman Donald Iloff told the Houston Business Journal.

Cant say i like this but the fact is non tax payers always have and will receive tax payer money. Millions of people each year get back more from their tax returns then they have actually paid in, no news here. Having worked with a lot of people in my life who at one point worked primarily on tips I know its common to sit around at tax time and see what income to actually declare just to get the biggest tax credit back. Thank you Earned Income Tax Credit /sigh

The church is performing a much needed service so what's your beef?

I don't like all the PPP either but you can't fault them for asking? Look at who approved them for answers.

I wonder.

The money was to cover employees like and other place with employees.

I would guess that donations are down with many things virtual.

Yes I know he is a rich guy etc etc. He takes a salary of a dollar. He makes his BIG money selling books.

Osteen is a shyster. His "church" is not a church. He should have been taxed a long time ago.

Having said that, please recognize that the average church in America is 75 people or less. The pastor is more likely driving a 15 year old Chevy than a Lexus.

According to the article you cited, OP, this was a loan used to pay over 350 employees. Do these people not deserve pay because they work for a church? And when the church pays the money back on the loan, will you still have a problem with it?

Plenty of nonprofit organizations receive tax dollars and do not pay taxes.

If the beef is with Joel Osteen and how he runs his "church", that's one thing. All nonprofits and all churches are not Joel Osteen's church.

The restaurant Gavin Newsom got exposed eating at, got almost $2 Million in CARES act cash...a freaking restaurant.

Most of the CARES act money was stolen by companies that didn't deserve to get it, or to get as much as they filed for.

One crook bought a Lambo with his ill-gotten gains and was busted. Google Lamborghini + CARES to see the articles about him.

CARES = Massive rip off of amercian taxpayers.

It's not just Democrats either, plenty of Republicans were in on the big steal too....1 Trillion+ gone.

Even Harvard and Yale stole millions.

Pelosi's husbands business stole millions.

The Fox is in the Henhouse, & nobody's guarding the Henhouse.
