right now, china has been branded as enemy #1 so I take every news regarding china (as well as Iran, Russia, NK, etc.) with a truck load of salt.

You mean before China acknowledged it came from them. Just because they did not acknowledge it does not mean it didn’t come from them. There is evidence to suggest they were dealing with it in August of last year, yet they let their people continue to travel.
and there's evidence that it was in brazil and spain going as far back as march. we can play this game all day, but the FACT of the matter is, no one knows where it originated, and that includes the both of us.
What I see on many media platforms and discussion boards is that this virus has been wrongly abused as a political weapon in the US.
We are all in the same global crisis together. 219 countries have been brought to their knees economically and close to 2 million people have died so far. Every country faces the same problems as the US and death-rates in the western world are fairly identical. The US was hit hard during the first wave while the EU is currently being hit very hard during the 2nd wave.
In the US, Trump has been harshly criticized about how he handled the virus and his opponents gone as far as to call it the "Trump virus." We all could criticize the same way our leaders in the EU in the current deadly 2nd wave. In the meantime, I see that there is a big party in Wuhan...

the bolded is the most important statement that our politicians are failing to understand.
instead of working together, they exploited a pandemic to ratchet up hostility against China and fight the opposing political party at home.
Well... then it's a curious case that the virus exploded in Wuhan in Dec 2019, than everywhere else in the world in Feb 2020, isn't it?
misidentifying or confusing it for the flu or pneumonia, or even the measles outbreak.
possible mutation of the virus to a more virulent/deadly strain.
