The reason why "picnic" is considered 'offensive' by some?

First of all, despite some false claims, the word picnic did NOT originate in America and was most certainly not derived from offensive slurs against Blacks and lynching. Picnic is derived from the 17th century French term pique-nique.
And the second ludicrous part is, because some lynchings in the past were done in a "picnic" like manner, now some are deeming picnic offensive based on that asinine logic.
