My parents were part of "The Greatest Generation".
My father, dead 11 years, fought in Patton's army in Europe.
My mother (age 93, but blind) was a young girl during WWII. She remembers.
That war lasted 4 years (for us). My parent's generation learned to do without during that period, as part of the war effort. A look at history (or, better, if you can talk to someone that lived through it, like I can with my mother, and like I did with my father) can educate you.
Back then, people did without things. Those at home were rationed to three gallons of gas per week; they were rationed on meats, potatoes, etc. No new appliances. Rationed on sugar, coffee, cigarettes, cheese, canned goods, etc.
It was tough living, even for those that weren't in Europe or the Pacific theater being maimed or killed.
Now? Your country asks you to wear a mask.
And you can't do even that.
Pathetic.
I think your testimonial has more credibility than the other opinions posted on here, including the "jonsnewplace" blog, which anyone could have written on Wordpress.
Its not your country that asks you to wear a mask. Its a certain group of individuals.
In war, its your country, that asks you to fight. BIG difference.

Umm, what??? The vast majority of Americans have no problem whatsoever wearing a mask when asked to. A few unstable shoppers looking for a fight does not represent the nation as a whole. It says nothing about how our nation and it's people would respond to an unprovoked act of war.
Much like with poverty, Americans honestly dont know much about hardship.
Imagine that those that survived the Great Depression and WW2 would not be very impressed with the amount of wailing and whining that occurs now about... being safe.

My parents too! They fought and worked hard for their children, and future generations to have freedom, better quality of life, not to have a nanny state.
Lock downs here were a joke only really like 50% of things were locked Italy had like 90% everything locked down. Most of you could not handle having no power for 60% to 80% of you city if iit were 1mill+ people for 2 to 3 weeks after a hurricane. After a hurricane in 2008 blew through Houston 60% to 80% of the city was with out power for 2 to 3 week, my neighborhood was without power for 3 weeks last neighborhood to get power it is only 5 to 6 miles from downtown. Most of you could not last 4 to 5 days without power a 50% to 60% lock for 8 to 10 weeks in nothing compared to having no power for 3 weeks.

conveniently left out the part about businesses closing....people being out of work....landlords not collecting rent...etc
And if it goes on and on, more families on the streets...no jobs, no money for rents, for food for anything...this is America 2020, not 80 yrs ago. The rich they are just fine as always...
And I choose NOT to wear a mask, my choice, I'm not out there coughing and sneezing on the herds of people...and others should not cough and sneeze on others....and distance if that makes you feel comfortable...
