Is it possible that whoever leads this force, up to and including the Capitol Police, had secretly made plans to let the rioters breach the Capitol? These questions need examined. Consider six months prior:

Quote:
On June 2 — the day of the primary election in Washington — law enforcement officers appeared on every corner, heavily armed in fatigues and body armor. Humvees blocked intersections. Buses full of troops deployed into military columns and marshaled in front of the Lincoln Memorial in a raw show of force. Police kettled protesters in alleys. Choppers thudded overhead for days and sank low enough over protesters to generate gale-force winds.

Such dominance was nowhere in evidence Wednesday, despite a near-lockdown of the downtown area on Tuesday night. Trump supporters drove to the Capitol and parked in spaces normally reserved for congressional staff. Some vehicles stopped on the lawns near the Tidal Basin.

One minute you cheer and clap for their defunding, and the next minute you blame them for not crashing down with an iron fist. Wish you leftists would make up your damn minds.

I'm going to say complicit. Sadly. This was not a surprise. He was all over Twitter telling the great unwashed MAGA morons to get wild yesterday....he was talking to them THAT MORNIBG telling them to show strength. Rudy (between farts) was riling them up with talks of trial by combat. Don Jr. was amped up in a coke fueled rage. Eric was working the shake machine like a fiend. It was out of control. So by the time they shambled down to the Capitol, there should have been an overwhelming show of force meeting them at the steps. And if they got into the building.....shots should have been fired.

Police taking selfies with insurrectionist, police opening barriers and calmly walking off allowing these rioters access to the capitol....no National Guard presence except a few directing traffic....Confederate flags carried through the Capitol.... There is a LOT of explaining to do.

I guess the argument could be that the Capital Police felt the Capitol needed to be taken over. Is that what you saying?

I will agree 100% with you here, and that same course of action needed to be applied to all the leftists who were attacking police, burning, and looting with wanton disregard over the summer as well. Equal justice applied.

Are you saying their complicity in an attempted coup or their ineptitude in doing more to stop it is a reason NOT to defund them? I'm no fan of defunding the police and thinks itr's stupid, but police UNIONS? The ones that protect the bad apples? Those need to go.

The contrast is quite stark.
Does make one wonder how perceived threats are determined, or, perhaps, more to the point, how often ignored.
