Oh and by the way Pence is in charge right now, not Biden or Trump. He is more powerful than the president because he can fire Trump with one letter. Trump can’t fire him. Therefore, Trump either allows Pence to run things the way he wants or gets fired by him.
Why do you think the flag flew at half mast today, 4 days after the failed insurrection?
Please provide some proof that Pence is in charge, and a failed insurrection, for all of us good folks here on the City-Data-Forum. A link would be nice. Thanks.
I want impeachment to move forward for all the reasons already mentioned. But also, I want to see each of the Senators votes, Yea or Nay, which will be on the record forever.
I'm disgusted by most of the GOP senator's silence (cowards) as well as law enforcement. Usually, after an event like this, you'd expect to see law enforcement give press conferences to explain what happened. Why are they so quiet? I want them all the be held accountable.
Impeachment and conviction will have consequences even if done after Biden is president. Trump will lose the benefit of retirement and secret service protection and will be barred from future elective office. It negates the normal privileges given to former presidents and limits his options. It is like the country wiping its shoes after stepping in dog crap.
He may face federal charges anyway. He can't pardon himself and pissed off Pence.
Pence owes Trump nothing. Wasn't his daughter with him in the Capital the day of the riot? Trump threw him under the bus without a care for his safety and no concern over threats to have him hung or like Lin Wood posted to have him shot by firing squad. What's the matter with you people who think anything like this is okay. What this situation has needed is application of the 25th Amendment. If Pence is smart he'll take that route.
If removed before the 20th, wouldn't all of those presidential perks in retirement just go to Pence, since he would then be President? Doesn't sound like cost savings. Do former VPs get these perks as well, or just pension?

The process is to impeach and convict. There is no January 20th deadline. Pence would only become President if Trump were not in office before the 20th.
