I am not a Christian and I used to think the 'war on Christianity' was a made up thing. Spending time on this board assures me it is not made up. So why does the left hate Christianity so much?

I'm a devout Christian (the kind who tries to love everyone, not the kind who wants to deny gay marriage or shout at poor people to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, or think mixing races is wrong), so I think I can answer this.
The reason is because there are too many Christians are the kind who want to deny gay marriage and are against mixing races and shout at poor people to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, whatever in the world that's supposed to mean.
Around 70% of white Americans still identify as Christian. They lean conservative, vote strongly Republican and are a huge block. Also Christians hold various moral and ethical beliefs and the left wants to dictate beliefs as a pseudo-religion.

This.
The Republican Party has aligned itself with the Southern Baptist Church and is at this point, a theocratic party. It's Christianity however is all about societal dominance and control as well as enforcing social hierarchies. 1-6-21 shows how far they are willing to go. Right now, this Christian nationalism is the greatest threat this country faces.
There are a lot of churchgoing Christians that are against Christian nationalism. Christian nationalists try to have it both ways when they claim criticism of their ideology and dogma is an attack on Christianity as a whole, yet try to say Christians that don't align politically with them aren't true Christians.

This forum (and all other political forums) do not represent everyone on the left or the right.

I think many people have problems with those that use religion 'inappropriately'.
A good Christian is hard to find and often if someone is questioning a religious post it has nothing to do with Christianity and more to do with the person using Christianity in their argument.
Im Catholic and have never had a problem practicing my religion -- I am surrounded by Christians who don't seem to have any problem practicing and living their faith so I don't see a ware on Christianity.
