actually in many way Republicans have become more social liberal over the years, while in the last few years Democrats have gone far tilt lefts authoritarian. This below says it well that a poster put in the "what is a liberal or leftist thread.

The standard Liberal is a dying breed in the Democratic Party. They believed in:
Free speech with an absolute abhorrence for censorship of all kinds.
In general, new ideas tend to be the best ideas.
Responsible environmentalism.
Massive distrust for massive corporations.
General distrust for big government.
Equal rights for all.
Everyone should have equal opportunity.

The rising generation of "Democrats" is veering Far Left and they believe:
Viewing the world through an oppressor vs oppressed lens, which is rooted in Marxism.
Historical revisionism defining who was oppressed and who was the oppressor. (Example: Islam was the oppressor for more than a millennia, but Progressives transform them into the oppressed without any explanation or justification.)
The rights of whoever they deem as "the oppressed" supersede the rights of those they deem to be "the oppressors."
Equality of outcome for all. If everyone does not have equal outcome, this is a clear sign of oppression and foul play.
Western Civilization is irredeemably evil.
The concepts of cultural appropriation, 1500 genders, body positivity, man-splaining, internalized misogyny, internalized racism, everything being racist, sexist, or some other XXXist, or XXXphobic.

Since you seem to have missed it, the point of my reply was to point out the absurdity of asking democrats to adopt republican policies (duh! ). What would be the point of having two separate parties in the first place if they both had the exact same policies?
