It's a sad situation. The elderly are at most risk to covid and need immunity the most, but are most at risk to the vaccination . China should be bankrupted for their virus which probably came from their sloppy lab.
Fauci is as much to blame as China. He promoted and funded the research, in the US and in China.
We're all in a very large Phase IV trial (post approval) of the Pfizer and the Moderna vaccines. Lots of questions will be answered. But one thing we DO know. Covid-19 kills people - over 400K dead in this country already, about 3K more dying daily from it. Your parents made the right choice to be immunized against it. The choice was not whether to get a vaccine or not. The choice was vaccination vs infection with Covid-19. As of now, vaccination appears far, far safer.
As for all the anti-vaxxers? Fine. Don't sign up for it. There's not enough to go around yet, anyway.
Well if the parents got a doctors approval first. We made sure the doctors said it was ok before our elderly parents got it.

Most people don't get infected with covid, and most of those who get infected are not harmed or killed by it.
My mom(83 and dad(90) were vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine on 1/16/2020, with the second dose schedule during the first week of February.
I spoke with Dad Sunday morning and he was feeling fine. Later that afternoon, Dad began experiencing fatigue, then severe pain in his shoulder and neck on the side of the vaccination. Within hours, more side effects have developed. I spoke with him last night and he doesn't feel well. He does not like to have his mobility limited.
Today, my sister is taking him to the ER.
Mom has been experiencing mobility issues due to pain in her legs, however, mobility has been an issue for her for several years.
I wasn't initially concerned but as the side-effects persisted and it's limiting his mobility, I am getting worried.
That is, until CNN takes it down for fear of making Biden look bad for pushing the vaccine.
I have three comorbidities and no vaccination in sight. Illinois just doesn't see me as a priority and there is literally nobody I can reach out to about it. I want to get vaccinated so I can get back to something approximating normal life. That said, vaccines are not something you should rush. There was a time when 200K children were vaccinated for polio, only to have 40K of those get polio from the vaccine and killing 10 of them. In 1976, a rushed flu vaccine was linked to causing the neurological disorder called Guillain-Barre syndrome in many recipients. The Covid-19 vaccine is a rush order and that comes with significant risks.

I was going to say "anecdotal evidence!", but it does sound like your dad's problems are a reaction to the vaccination. The fact that he's 90 years old likely has something to do with it. Usually the shoulder pain goes away in a day or two, but now it's day 5? What's the latest report?
I'm over 70, and I was fortunate to get the Pfizer vaccine a couple weeks ago. I had no reaction whatsoever - not even a sore arm. And I don't glow at night or anything.

Leg pain is unlikely a reaction to the vaccine. So I guess she handled it well.

My parents are taking it at the end of the month. They are almost 88 and 84. My father has had numerous health problems in the last few years, including a stroke and cancer. I’m scared to death for them. There is nothing I could possibly say to them to get them to reconsider. They watch MSM constantly.

There is some growing evidence that very frail, very elderly people may experience greater side effects from the Pfizer vaccine, and even a correlation with increased mortality (as seen in Norway).

The irony is that the elderly are the ones most susceptible to the COVID virus...
Well, it's been up there for over four months (published September 1, 2020), so that seems unlikely.
Currently, there have been over 12 million doses of vaccine given in the U.S. I haven't heard of any real horror stories. Out of 12 million? That's actually pretty impressive.
