Both, but not in a good way. Create jobs for China and destroy jobs in US. Oh wait, there will be the lower paying installer and maintenance jobs.

Man, what happened to the democratic party??? They used to stand up for middle class jobs and now they destroy them. If they really cared, they would be fighting for both fossil fuel (although they really are not fossil fuels) job AND green energy jobs. There is room in the market for both. Democrats don't care about the middle class. They have been taken over by left wing special interests. There is no other way to paint this.

Increases the risk! Once potable/irrigation water is unusable, neither is the land there. We take water for granted. You can't drink crude oil! Remember that.

Also, are those pipelines in your map, crude oil pipelines? Crude oil is extremely corrosive on pipes and causes a disasters rate of pipeline leaks.

That crude from Canada will be exported directly to other countries so what do we get out of this high risk?

(Crude oil with lots of sulfur in it is called “sour,” as opposed to “sweet.”) If enough of these contaminants collect in a steel pipe, they’ll work together to eat away at its inner surface.

Forcing other people to pay for your salary is not job creation.

It used to be called slavery.

Its silly to think you can find jobs and new career for all or even most of those displaced by the government banning their industry.
Those people aren't as stupid as Democratic politicians. They know that retraining means if you get a job, it will be 800 miles away, pay half as much and have no benefits.

Investing in “climate” jobs is probably a good idea in the long term, though.

The problem is trying to make what should be a long-term investment out to be something with immediate benefits. Ain’t so, Joe.

I suspect he knows better, but due to the current political climate, this is the kind of thing he has to do for posturing purposes.

As usual, someone of the ruling class gains points while us plebes lose jobs.
Climate jobs like Solyndra? (Obama's disaster for those who don't remember)

The Democrat party is a poison that kills everything it touches.

Yes

And sticking our heads in the sand and not investing in R&D in this field is just going to be ceding the industry to China when we could have been market leaders.

The world is heading there, with or without us. Do we want America to be great in the future economy or a backwater holding on to the past? Guessing most opposed just don’t think they will be around long enough to matter.

Investment in science/technology is what “made America great” in the 50s.
