Someone altered refuse on non-privatized property (what you folks call public property).

Big deal.

Not surprised. There was opposition to the statue, including opposition from Indians. It’s not just about Gandhi being racist but his fierce defense of the caste system in India. A significant group of Indians do NOT see him as a positive figure. Overall, he was not.

Gandhi was a ardent Nationalist who believed the Indians should have been allowed to own guns.
The Left hates that.................

Really? I find that they are rather indescriminate. This Gandhi statue is a prime example of that. A non-white, non-Christian man who is one of the top three figures in human history associated with promoting peace.

If you are in any way directly or tangentially associated with racism, they "cancel" you.

From the Organization of Minorities of India when a Gandhi statue was defaced in DC in December...

Quote:

Gandhi was targeted because of his racism, sexual abuse and casteism which was a side to him that was suppressed by the Indian government for decades. In so doing, Gandhi’s celebrity status sky-rocketed for decades to become one of the leading global saints who supposedly stood for humanity. However, more and more citizens of the world who have researched about the real Gandhi have discovered that the world revered saint was the father of apartheid while he lived in South Africa. Year after year, the legacy of Gandhi is being dismantled and the world is realizing that the so-called messiah of peace was actually a fraud.

Since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came into power in 2014, the statue of Gandhi has been gifted to tens of countries as part of their foreign policy to mask its atrocities within the interior of India. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) which is the paramilitary wing of the BJP and as the statues of Gandhi were handed out to countries as symbols of peace, more atrocities were committed against the minorities of India.
If you think all Indians supported Gandhi, you couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Racist Gandhi's statue defaced once again in Washington DC, this time in support for farmers in India.Organization for Minorities of India

In the ideology of Antiracism which has taken hold in the white Anglo Saxon world. This Antiracism ideology is practiced by 30 million Americans, and so practiced in Canada, Australia, UK and New Zealand. This ideology is not practiced no where else other then South Africa and Ireland perhaps. If anyone has racist ideas, thoughts or followings, such person who is emblazoned in imagery, books or writing has to be destroyed. This is the reason why today you are seeing statues destroyed and books burned in academic and urban areas due to the ideology of Antiracism. Anti racsim is a new religion that is practiced by sum 50 million whites in the Anglosphere.

Now Gandhi had a history of racism when he was a lawyer in South Africa and he did not like the fact that the British did not treat Indians as equals and as secondary. Ghandi was a medic during the Boer war which British cape colony raged war agaisnt independent Dutch settlements of transvaal and free state. The British won out and incorporated free state and transvaal into dominion of South Africa with white anglos on the top and africakanners, native africans, chinese and Indians at the bottom.

Agree, the vandals are the real bad guys no matter what pretext or justification they are trying to use. The real target isn't Gandhi and racism. They are selective.

Well, ignorant F-tards have destroyed statues of Washington, Lincoln, Lee and a host of others across the country-why not Gandhi? It's not like the fools destroying statues are the sharpest tools in the shed.

The Hindu Indians didn't treat each other as equals, as they had the caste system, which meant you could not mix with other castes and could never rise above the caste you were born in to.

In terms of Britain, we stepped back and let the Maharaj's take control, the Maharaj's being local powerful rulers who ran India and who had their own Armies who kept order. As a result Britain never stationed more than 70,000 troops in a country of nearly 400 million by the time it left the British Empire. British International trade helped India and it's rulers prosper and helped build infrastructure such as ports and extensive railway.

Not had...have. Caste still exists. Gandhi’s heralded fast “for” the “Harijans” or “Dalits” was not to benefit them but to keep them in their place and preserve the caste system. The man who truly defended and fought for them was Bhimrao Ambedkar.

The British still did wickedness in India and to South Asian people in general. Opening fire on man, woman and child in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. They took thousands upon thousands of indentured laborers to replace slave labor in the Caribbean and other Asian nations and abused them terribly. There are millions of South Asian descendants in the Caribbean, Central and South America today for that reason.
