Former Reagan administration officials in talks to form third party. Names under consideration include the Integrity Party and the Center Right Party.

If it is decided instead to form a faction, one name under discussion is the Center Right Republicans.

More than 120 of them held a Zoom call last Friday to discuss the breakaway group, which would run on a platform of “principled conservatism,” including adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law - ideas those involved say have been trashed by Trump.

The plan would be to run candidates in some races but also to endorse center-right candidates in others, be they Republicans, independents or Democrats, the people say.

Evan McMullin, who was chief policy director for the House Republican Conference and ran as an independent in the 2016 presidential election, told Reuters that he co-hosted the Zoom call with former officials concerned about Trump’s grip on Republicans and the nativist turn the party has taken.

Yes we need to do it AND whomever is in charge of this party has to be serious about taking the country back.

The current republicans have been bought and paid for by special interested and are not at all serious about doing anything that helps the people.. just their bottom line.

If you split the Republican party into 2, isn't that going to insure Democratic victories?

This is desperately needed. I was hoping that the GOP would purge itself of the Trump-loving, QAnon-believing conspiracy theorists, and that those radicals would slink off into the sunset. Failing that, the next best thing is for the remaining sane Republicans to start their own party. Start with Evan McMullin. I think Senators Romney, Sasse, Collins and Murkowski would join. Governors Hogan (MD), Baker (MA) and Kasich (OH). They might even attract a few Democrats, like Joe Manchin. We need a credible conservative alternative to Democrats.

This idea is comparable to a mafia family where some of the members decide to break off and form their own crew...

It doesn't matter. The dems now control the voting machines and can determine the outcome of EVERY election of any consequence, despite the will of the people.

By voting, you are condoning the corrupt system by participation. I personally am no longer voting for national political candidates, as it is pointless going forward, and only supporting state elected officials who support secession.

When your voting rights have been rescinded by a corrupt process, you no longer have a voice in the federal government and should seek to separate from that system which chooses to rule like feudal lords, not rightfully elected officials.

A centrist party might attract left leaning moderates as well. If it were strong enough it would ensure no party dominance in the legislature at least. We really have no center right party anymore in the US while the majority remains center right.

I actually think this isn't a bad idea. While I would have liked to see the Trump/crazies to split off and form their own party, this is the next best solution. Be sad to see the demise of the "Grand Old Party" in such a manner, tho.

You're right, the left is going to do whatever it takes to keep power. From stealing elections to outright violence
