I retired as a Police Supervisor back in the 1990s and I have been a member of the Fraternal Order of Police since the 1960s. Even in the 1990s it as apparent the members of militias and other extremist groups like Oathkeepers and Proud Boys were swearing loyalty to something other than the Constitution. If I knew they were gone.

Now 30 of the Jan 6th insurgents were police officers there on their own time. As far as I can tell if they tresspassed on the Capitol they are criminals and are felons if they took part they are Federal Felons. They need to be arrested and fired. Anyone who was part of one of those groups should get out of Law Enforcement.

The Militias were heavy intoLaw Enforcement. Police Unions sold out to Trump and Sheriffs, who are elected, tended to be Republican functionaries. Over a decade Police Training ant equipment became more and more militarized. Now most are just armies of occupation.
