In 2005, the Vatican approved the use of vaccines that used a cell line from abortion, but allowed doctors and patients to exercise their moral conscience to refuse such a vaccine. The NOLA Archdiocese is simply telling people to avoid the vaccine if possible and to follow the Vatican's statement on the subject.

Thanks. How do they know what had been used (or not) in the vaccine? I simply don’t understand the cell line issue.
