If you are black, would you miss out on scholarship offers due to the "systemic racism" we hear so much about?

Also, have you been to West Philadelphia. A lot of Scholarships is Essay writing, for all you know she could have had some of the most traumatic experiences growing up in such a dangerous and poverty stricken part of the U.S.

In Shanya's case, maybe she got them for free (most colleges waive application fees for financial hardship) if needed.
Thanks, I was thinking most kids apply to the ones they are serious about because those application fee can add up.

Exactly. Why on earth these people so small-minded when a black person achieves something? How on earth is that an affront to them? Shouldn't we be celebrating an example of when a young person makes the most of the opportunities available to them?

I had a much better GPA and didn't get awarded any scholarships.

Hopefully, she will do well with it.

But even me being black, income was a big restriction, a ton of the scholarships rightly blocked my access because my parents made too much money. Expecting upper middle class people who are white and Asian to get access to these same scholarships is ludicrous. Especially when they aren't applying to schools like that, their all trying to go for Ivies and Ivy-equivalents.
That is actually a key point.

A lot of really super selective schools don't need to use scholarship money (which isn't need based) to attract applicants to actually go and attend their institution - there are plenty of students who want to come.

For that reason, UC Berkeley and UCLA are actually stingier with their merit aid money than somewhat less selective campuses such as UC Santa Cruz.

Now for colleges and universities that are not quite as selective, but still excellent in their academics - they'll often sweeten the deal by offering merit aid, say, $18K, $13K per year for a private institution. Not bad.

In one of the recent lawsuits, it was found that asians, like i eluded to before, were "losing" spots because they have a tendency to be grade-robots and standardized-test robots and in some cases having cheating networks. They were failing when it came to the "personality" parts of admission in comparison to WHITES in the lawsuit against Harvard.
Yup.

Notice that they're all silent about legacy admissions and athletics recruiting at those superselective unis. Most of whom are disproportionately white. Meanwhile, Yale is, what, 6% black? C'mon now.

She has average academic merit but has schools throwing 7 digits of money at her because she is black.

Systemic racism is the fact that if she were Asian she wouldn't get that same money thrown at her. Systemic racism often favors black people if we are honest and not lying, being woke requires lies.

Whites are underrepresented at Yale at just 47% of the University.

You are extremely ignorant if you don't think Asians and to a lesser extent whites have a more difficult time in the admissions process than blacks due to systemic leftist racism.

Quote:
Princeton professor Thomas Espenshade and coauthor Alexandra Radford demonstrate that, controlling for other variables, Asian students applying to highly selective private colleges face odds against their admission three times as high as whites, six times as high as Hispanics, and sixteen times as high as blacks. To put it another way: Asians need SAT scores 140 points higher than whites, 270 points higher than Hispanics, and an incredible 450 points higher than blacks (out of 1,600 points) to get into these schools. An Asian applicant with an SAT score of 1,500, that is, has the same chance of being accepted as a white student with a 1,360, a Latino with a 1,230, or an African-American with a 1,050. Among candidates in the highest (1,400–1,600) SAT range, 77 percent of blacks, 48 percent of Hispanics, 40 percent of whites, and only 30 percent of Asians are admitted.

That's what I was wondering. It sounded like she received 1,000,000 just for applying.
