That's the self reporting number. I bet the real number is unfortunately quite a bit higher than that. People can say they don't believe it, yet still let it dictate their inner narrative.
I agree. Massive amounts of propaganda have an insidious way of working into the collective consciousness. It also spreads to entertainment, social media, sports, kids stuff, etc where people do pay attention.
The bias ca 1990 was slight left and reflected a far different version of left than today. The NYT for a small example has morphed into Mother Jones with newsprint. You did not see nearly the degree of open cheering for the Democratic party. I don't know what to do to correct this as I do not believe the NYT etc have monopoly status, unlike Google, FB, Twitter etc.
New York Times hunts down Sen. Hawley’s prom date and middle school principal
However, rather than offer any sort of in-depth analysis of the senator’s proposal, the New York Times instead dispatched a team of reporters to hunt down his high school prom date and middle school principal for an expose titled “Josh Hawley Is ‘Not Going Anywhere.’ How Did He Get Here?”
Well, if anyone knows the answer to this question, it’s surely two individuals with whom Hawley was familiar some 20 to 30 years ago.
That was a good article. You should read it. I bolded the words that counter your complaint. As for the proposal, this NYT article was on J Hawley not going anywhere and how he got here.

when can we expect to see similar 'how they got here' articles about crazy mazy hirono and alexandria o'crazio cortex, complete with interviews with their middle school teachers and prom dates from 15-20 years ago?
New York Times hunts down Sen. Hawley’s prom date and middle school principal
Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri recently offered an alternative to a national $15 minimum wage, proposing a system whereby tax dollars would be used to boost incomes for low-earning workers.
It is a unique proposition, to say the least, one that deserves both criticism and praise on its merits.

This article is on Hawley and, obviously, his history. If you are interested in someone else, do a Google search.
Think about the last year and a half. Think of all the different narratives that were told to us. “Mostly peaceful” protest for months on end is okay because racism. Cuomo moves around with impunity even though everyone knew they were not reporting statistics accurately. The media gave him a pass and they even did a smell test after the fortified 2020 election. The constant repetition of the agreed upon narrative. 2020 was a facade. A play held by the entrenched neoliberal establishment.
“That’s why the participants want the secret history of the 2020 election told, even though it sounds like a paranoid fever dream–a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information. They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it.”
That's because Republicans don't know how to read.
