Senators Warren and Menendez slip tax relief into possible future student loan debt foregiveness. Borrowers who would normally have to pay taxes on unpaid debt will have zero obligation. Instead the taxpayers will pay their taxes and loans off.

I thought this was a virus related stimulus bill?

This is confusing. It doesn't eliminate student loan debt; it appears to provide for the contingency that if student loan debt IS forgiven before 2025, their tax on that student loan income will also be forgiven.

Some say it lays the ground work or eliminates a negative that normally would come with foregiving debt.

Basically they're writing the fine print clauses before the actual subject or focus of an executive order or legislation. Sneak in the fine print even before the actual subject comes up. They're building in a backdoor.

This is already done if you have your student loans forgiven for being Totally Disabled. It was changed during the Trump administration. Since it is currently very difficult to get your loans discharged for any other reasons then becoming disabled this is a pretty clear sign there will be a continuing push to expand forgiveness of loans for other reasons.

Will being a lazy POS that got a useless degree be a reason?

One could say they are trying to appropiate minority characteristic to get their agenda past. The disabled are a protected class with a physical issue. Is someone who will not pay back their loans really disabled? Actually maybe they are disabled or lacking because they fail to understand the commitment and obligation they have when they sign a contract.
