Maher always spitting the truth. China is clearly far and away #1 this point.. we may not even be top 10 at this point when you factor in all of Europe. LOL
Bill is a comedian looking for eyeballs to watch his program...this is good for laughs/viewers/advertisers.
Don't get me wrong...I enjoy Bill's program and even think there were some kernels of truth in this particular piece. America is a country of silly people? Hard not to agree with that after the last 12 months. We are failing miserably on infrastructure.
That said, I don't buy the overall thesis. Why?
1. Yes, the U.S. is a flawed democracy or republic. But China is an oligarchy ruled by a dictator for life. The CCP thrives on political corruption for survival. That is a recipe for future strife.
2. Yes, we are a divided nation and there is much internal rot in the U.S. system: but at least we air our dirty laundry every four years. China has protests in Hong Kong, separatism in Taiwan and lots of malnutrition on the mainland.
3. Geographically, the United States is a natural economic hub and military fortress. We are packed with resources and more economic arteries like navigable waterways and ports than the rest of the world. We only share two borders: Canada and Mexico. China shares borders with 19 countries. The upshot is the U.S. can do all kinds of stupid things and still thrive. We invaded Iraq in 2003 which was a huge policy blunder. We got a way with it...not saying that is right but due to all of the above factors it wasn't a fatal blow.
3. The United States attracts young smart people from all over the world, and the resulting influx of immigrants continually rejuvenates the U.S. workforce and economy. Many of these young smart people are Chinese! Look at the net migration between the two countries over the last 20 years and THAT will tell you who is voting with their feet.
4. Demographically, the U.S. is the only nation that is simultaneously big, young, and highly educated. Yes, our education system (K-12) is atrocious and needs reform but because of No. 3 above it is less of a factor.
Bill Maher pushed Biden’s candidacy knowing full well he was a Chinese puppet. The one guy who was willing to challenge China, Maher hated with a passion.
So now, Maher is upset that China is winning? You can’t make this stuff up.

china has a huge population advantage and given time that will win out....but who controls the oil and currency with their military seems to be the us as of now...for a while anyways
I'm sure that's what you were doing, but I just wanted to make it clear since we wouldn't want anyone from the party of peace, love, and tolerance to be taken as to be spewing hateful comments outside the confines of introspective self-loathing.
