Here we go again. As more than one Democrat has said in the past, "Never let a good crisis go to waste".
Biden know he could never get the people's representatives on Congress to pass unconstitutional "gun control" measures. So it looks like he will simply sign some into law by executive fiat - that is, by Executive Order, as though he had the authority to overrule the Constitution.
Recently Biden has expressed interest in a ban on "assault" weapons", though he has not explained what an "assault weapon" is. He has also talked about making "background checks" more strict, though he has not specifically said that govt should infringe the right to keep and bear arms of a person who somehow did not "pass" the background check to the government's satisfaction.
To no one's surprise, none of the reporters in the room even asked if any government "gun control" measure had ever succeeded in lowering the murder rate or other "gun violence" measure.
Why does Biden have to rely upon executive orders? Why doesn't his Democratic majority back his every play? If he is the great uniter, why cant he find a path to consensus and compromise? I mean that's what the left claimed Biden would be able to do. At this rate Biden will average 218 Executive orders per year.
To put it into perspective.
Lincoln had a civil war to deal with and wrote a total of 48 EO's.
Maybe Biden forgot that he has the house and senate to pass bills and write laws?

Maybe he knows they don't want to risk getting voted out of office, when their constituents find they voted for a gun ban or a background check to restrict law-abiding citizens?

Maybe he is writing executive orders to save them from having to answer for passing such laws? This way only he has to take the heat and only he risks a failed re-election. I think its so the democrats can avoid as much unfavorable publicity as possible. This way they have plausible deniability. They can simply say "Hey dont blame us, Biden went crazy with that pen."

More likely he's using Executive Orders because he know not enough Democrats will vote for legislation, to pass it. Executive Orders are the ONLY way he can get his gun bans etc. enacted.
When the people's representatives don't want your agenda, even including your own majority party, maybe you should take the hint, Joe.

Hmm, looks like no anti-gun-rights liberal wants to touch the subject of the constitutionality of "gun control" laws. With a ten-foot pole.

Biden's party controls both the house and the senate and still he can't get a gun bill passed. If he can't unify the party, how is he going to unify the country?

I think they knew that already before Election Day.
Not as if Biden and the Democrats didn't clearly state it.
Democrats have always thought they knew better how to take care of the people, than the people themselves did.
So they continuously impose huge govt spending, government rapidly expanding into every part of people's lives, laws and restrictions to control more and more, etc. Things that most people would never have voted to impose upon themselves.
With the advent of the Biden administration, it looks like that's truer than ever.
Though they are fast running out of representatives that will vote to impose those things (smallest Dem majority in the House in generations, 50-50 tie in Senate), they are turning to Executive Orders to impose the things they want people to obey.
And doing it in a big hurry, almost as if they KNEW they would only have the Presidency and their majorities (however thin) for a very short time.

Jen Psaki says Biden will sign gun control executive orders
by Steven Nelson
March 26, 2021 | 3:10pm
White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Friday confirmed that President Biden intends to sign executive orders on gun control.
Psaki replied “Yes” to a journalist’s question about whether reporters should “be expecting executive orders from the president on gun measures.”
But she said the timing was unclear due to a review process.
I don't understand how people who think masks are dangerous are also the same people who think guns are just harmless normal thingies that should be free of control and regulation.
