LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - It's a happy Mother's Day for an Arkansas woman — she's pregnant with her 18th child.
I saw this family on the Discovery Channel, I just don't get it!?! Is not anyone concerned for the health of this woman, her age and the weakening of her genetics and those of her children! The logistics of maintaining this family is mind boggling!
As long as they can support thier own children I don't care how many they have.
So you have no regard for the heath of the mother or the integrity of family as the parent grow older and financial and health problems arise? So, is there no upper limit on the number of children that this pyramid can accommodate and support?
I feel the same...as long as they're not a welfare case.
On the contrary, seems like I read her hubby is/was a politician of some sort and I recall they had some means (they must, for a 7,000 SF home and 18 kids!)
I knew a guy who was the youngest of 20, and it's a whole different lifestyle than what we're accustomed to typically. That family was poor...but it was also half a century ago.
I just can't imagine why she'd keep having more...although I guess the burden is balanced by the joy of each child. But I'd have stopped over a dozen kids ago!
The strain on her body is her business.
They'll be tax credits but they are also contributors to the economy, and one day God willing, positive contributors to their community.
They sound like they're doing fine. Good for them. They're grown, sane adults making their own decisions and paying for them. That's all I ask of anyone.

I agree. I have also watched this family on the Discovery Channel(?) and it seemed to me like those children are being raised very well. All of them seemed to be very well mannered and respectful. Why should anyone worry about the parents as they age? They have 18 kids to take care of them when they get old. My great grandparents had 13 children and they all turned out just fine. The only time I complain about people having too many babies is when they expect tax payers to pay for them in the form of welfare.
