Was it wrong to allow President Nixon to resign (likely with the guarantee that Ford would pardon him) in 1974 instead of impeaching him? Did the United States miss a great opportunity to hold its Presidents accountable for misconduct?
Compared to what happened recently, which was the Democratic Party creating a phony security threat so they could set up surveillance on the Trump campaign, Watergate looks like child’s play in comparison.
Regardless, Nixon did the right thing. Even as much as I hate Biden and the Democrats, and even though I feel the election was fraudulent and he isn’t even a legitimate president, I also understand that removing a sitting president from office is not good for anyone.
So if it ever happens again where removal is likely, that President should just step down.

Impeached or not Nixon left in disgrace and the GOP worked to remove themselves from that chapter of history. Fast forward to the last Presidents conduct and rather then work towards getting back on a even keel they continue to embrace his style and continue to alienate the more moderate in the party.
