First of all, this was a study of those charged, and may not reflect the much larger group that protested but did not enter the Capitol.

Quote:
‘When the political scientist Robert Pape began studying the issues that motivated the 380 or so people arrested in connection with the attack against the Capitol on Jan. 6, he expected to find that the rioters were driven to violence by the lingering effects of the 2008 Great Recession.”

“But instead he found something very different: Most of the people who took part in the assault came from places, his polling and demographic data showed, that were awash in fears that the rights of minorities and immigrants were crowding out the rights of white people in American politics and culture.

-only 10% were members of far-right fringe groups such as Oath Keepers or Proud Boys

-Counties with the most significant declines in the non-Hispanic white population are the most likely to produce insurrectionists. This finding held true, Mr. Pape determined, even when controlling for population size, distance to Washington, unemployment rate and urban or rural location.

-Put another way, the people alleged by authorities to have taken the law into their hands on Jan. 6 typically hail from places where non-White populations are growing fastest.

If only we could see that level of dedication to upholding the law when BLM and Antifa go on rampaged for months on end!! Seriously, the blatant and publicly announced inaction against criminal action for the Alt-Left exremists probably set the precedent for the Jan 6th stupidity. "Well, apparently violence and destruction isn't wrong anymore. Okay, let's go smash the capitol building! It's not like they prosecute people for that kind of thing anymore."

The capitol rioters didn't get the memo: The laws against violence and destruction will only be enforced against the political Right. Only the political Left gets exempted from the consequences of breaking the law.

When a govt stops representing the will of the people, its the duty of the people to remove this govt from power (by force if necessary...why we have the 2A).

Its easy to see how people are deceived into seeing this incident as 'criminal or traitorous'...the American Revolution appeared the same way.

So these protesters knew that it was the will of the people to overturn a valid election.

Despite anyones opinion on the legitimacy of the election...its been LONG apparent this govt is not representing the will of the people.

For that reason alone, I have to support the people that took part, (although I do recognize this was not a serious attempt), considering their actions once they acquired control of the room...it was more of a stunt than anything, seriously there is video footage of a guy carrying the podium away, LOL, had this been a real attempt, they would have used that podium to address the people.

I’ve seen it on here a lot, white people claiming that they are literally oppressed or at a disadvantage in America simply because they are white.

Ever heard of race quotas and affirmative action? That's systematic oppression and discrimination against white people. Can you name for me a law currently on the books that does the same kind of crap to blacks and other minorities?

Meanwhile, the prosecution in the court cases are having trouble living up to the narrative presented in the media. Not looking to be a big deal at all in the end.

Of course. It's an undeniable fact.

That makes perfect sense. The most passionate MAGAs act out of fear of losing power.

Trump played them well.
