And don't forget Jesse Ventura! He didn't run for re-election so we don't know whether he would have won a second term.

And if I remember correctly there was someone in the white house not too long ago who went from reality TV to politics. Can't recall the name...

Regarding Arnold in CA. He was a good governor. I lived in CA then. The problem was the state house was dominated by the left and was determined to undermine everything he did. He actually brought some common sense to CA politics. Which has been eroded ever sense.

Regarding McConaughey. He is the type of Democrat who could win in Texas. More of a centrist unlike Beto who was far left. He could peel off a percentage of republican voters and get the democrats to turn out. Question would be why would he want to do this?

You're the first person I've seen who's said that.

All I saw was a wishy-washy politician who was being controlled by his wife's family and couldn't seem to take any kind of firm, conservative position on pretty much anything.

He had an idyllic view of what being a Republican means, based on rhetoric from Reagan in the '80s. He's patriotic, I wouldn't dispute that, but while I don't think he's dumb by any means, he doesn't seem that smart when it comes to politics or human nature and that was demonstrated quite clearly while he was governor.

Others have done it.

I agree. He's not extreme in either direction. I think we need more politicians like that.

He would have to pick between full on open border liberalism and ever acting in a movie again.

They (the left) dont allow anything in between.

Texas likes extreme. Look at what we have now.

Jim Hightower told us there is nothing in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead armadillos.

Texans picked sides a hundred years ago. We are conservative or liberal.

And the democrats who run the state party are dumb. When current Lt Gov was a talk show host and owner of a radio station in Houston and Dallas, decided to run for the Texas senate, his BFF filed to run for the same office as a democrat. The state Democratic party never caught on even after the Democratic candidate said he was not opposed to Patrick continuing his radio broadcast while running for the senate. And one cannot be too right wing for the conservatives.

Let's hope he's auditioning for a part in a Hollywood movie. While he seems very genuine, we need a Governor that takes hard stands on major issues that the Democratic Cities are not taking and goes as far as abetting to make make the situation worse. Abbott is doing great to fight homelessness, securing Texas southern border, not imposing into our civil liberties by removing mask mandates, and fighting sanctuary cities that support Illegal Aliens. McConaughey is good in film so I say he should stay put in film.

Don't forget the other, young George P. Bush. That carpet bagger wins anything he runs for. Bet he can beat Miller and Paxton in the gov. primary.

He bit my wife's cousin in kindergarten.
