Should we stop allowing people to drive cars?

Under age 18: You are 190x more likely to die in a car accident over Covid
Ages 19-29: You have a 16x better chance of dieing in a car accident than Covid
Ages 30-39: You have a 6x better chance of dieing in a car accident than Covid
Ages 40-49: You have a 2.5x better chance of dieing in a car accident than Covid
Even at 60! You have a better chance of dieing in a car accident this year than Covid.

You are truly at risk at ages 85+

Should we eliminate car driving? It seems more dangerous than Covid. Anyway its even more reason to not get the vaccine.

This is a great example. We have rules of the road to minimize deaths. We require licenses and training to operate a vehicle. We take action to minimize harm with potentially harmful things like driving. Similarly, with Covid, we wear masks. We socially distance, and we vaccinate. We take actions to minimize harm to people.

For the 1,000,000th time - it's NOT the death rate that matters!

It's the hospitalization rate. If car crash victims inundate our emergency rooms and ICU to the point where we run out of space, ventilators, nurses, and doctors; and would collapse our entire healthcare system.....

Then yes, we would do something about it.

Countries had to call up retired doctors and nurses and beg them to come out of retirement because the health system was collapsing without enough staff. Infected patients were put in hallways because the rooms were filled to the brink. Ventilators were running out. Patients with real emergencies were told to stay home because the emergency rooms were overflowing. Those are the reasons why we did what we did.

Any more nonsense?

To put it simply, car accidents don't cause a wave of accidents that increase exponentially day by day.

It sure seems like an infection. All it takes is one car to get in an accident.

It's not at all similar. Driving is the most dangerous activity we all do. Sure it's important to our society but it needs to be done differently.

I tell my wife that every day. Nothing we do every day is as dangerous as what we choose to eat and drink. After that, getting on the highway is the next most dangerous activity.

If you have a healthy immune system, covid is very low risk.

None of that ever happened. Even in our most densely populated city.

And we talk all the precautions set by our govt. to mitigate that threat.
Common sense would suggest we should do the same.

That's the thing -- you folks throw out these but cars are dangerous why don't we implement guidelines to try and keep people safe argument -- when we do exactly that.
