Despite the fact that Americans drove less due to the pandemic, traffic deaths were up, especially from June on and especially among blacks.

Quote:
I am now stunned to find out that motor vehicle fatalities among blacks similarly soared 36 percent in June–December 2020 versus the same period in 2019, compared with a 9 percent increase among the rest of the population.
---
The federal National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued a report entitled “Early Estimates of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities and Fatality Rate by Sub-Categories in 2020” showing that total road deaths among all races were up 7 percent from 36,096 in 2019 to 38,680 in 2020.

That’s despite miles driven by the American public falling 13 percent last year due to the pandemic. Put them together, and that’s a ridiculous increase in the death rate of over 23 percent per mile.

Among those still on the road, spectacularly bad driving grew. For example, ejections (being thrown out of the vehicle) roughly doubled between February and April and remained consistently above 2019 levels for the rest of 2020.

Impairment due to alcohol among crashing drivers was up moderately in 2020 over 2019, but not as much as marijuana and opioids.
---
Alcohol-impaired crashes killed 9 percent more;
Single-vehicle crashes (+9);
Rollovers (+9);
Weekends (+9);
Nighttime (+11);
Rural local/collector roads (+11);
Speeding-related crashes (+11);
Urban local/collector roads (+12);
Urban interstates (+15);
No seatbelt (+15);
Occupant ejection (up 20%)

But the worst single increase in deaths from 2019 to 2020 is 23 percent more black people being killed.

The auto manufacturers are obviously racist. I think Biden should announce a commission to look into why black people are being singled out and systematically hurt and killed by vehicles.

Driving will be deemed racist now, folks! It's disproportionately killing black people

The roads were less crowded so people were driving much faster than normal. Do black people have more of a propensity to violate the speed limit?

Someone should apply for a government grant to study this.

Could be more white people identifying as black.

Also being chained into your seat is racist... 15% no seat belts

Could be a quest for equity, want to raise the death toll to equal that of other demographics.

could be the statistician compiling the stats or a data entry error.

would this be considered blacks killing blacks, especially in single occupancy vehicles? So many angles to view this data, something for all sides to cite to forward their narratives.

Of course the highway death toll was never really a concern, about 10K a year, all demographics participating, involved in DUI.

Society has larger fish to fry, even though their concerns involve much smaller numbers, their outraged voices are mega decibels louder.

It must be global warming and Trump pulling out of the Paris accord. Check with AOC or talib or other bomb squad members to sort through the stats and give us a solid reason why the increase.

Unless those white supremacists are tinkering with cars to make them crash. Yeah, that must be it.

Crazy as all this sounds, the mainstream media and activists come up with nonsense so outlandish, it stuns the mind.

Everybody breaks the speed limit(except maybe that one guy who camps in the fast lane seemingly oblivious to the line of cars kissing his back bumper). The question is how much. Some people have their own internal limit that they'll follow even on an open road while others don't.

This isn't surprising.

I live in a ghetto/black city and I've noticed that a lot of black people have been driving like aggressive lunatics. I do my best to avoid certain areas because of this.

The white pillheads aren't going fast enough to kill themselves.

So the real question is, why is it up? What happened to the black population?

Angrier than usual because of a certain narrative being promoted.

Plus, in most large cities, it's been 'hands off.' They know this and have been behaving accordingly.
