If tracing ownership through serial numbers was an effective means of solving crimes involving guns, there would be example after example paraded in front of us during every single debate on the issue.
It never happens, because it never happens.
The only reason the government cares about serialization is for confiscation. That's it. There's no other reason they'd be interested which passes the logic test.
It doesn't help them solve crimes. It doesn't contribute to public safety in any way other than firearm manufacturers being able to track individual guns for recall purposes and such, which itself is only peripherally related to public safety, and that's never even been given as an argument in favor of more gun laws, that I know of, anyway.
Hell, they don't even prosecute 4473 violations...
They're gearing up for mass confiscation, helped by complaint, useful idiots who will be turning in their "white supremacist terrorist" neighbors in a year or two, after the conditioning has gone into overdrive.
Besides the Remington trigger fiasco what other "recall" was about safety? I know they had a few years of ammo issues with bad powder but firearms either go bang or don't.
The morons stammering on about ghost guns are either:
A. Clueless
B. Hope they get banned and confiscated
Hard to do with millions of firearms made before a serial number was even required. Ridiculous.
right now most folks cant afford a good enough printer to make a reliable 3d printed gun. But those high end 3d printers will eventually fall in price.
Technology is rapidly changing, and our laws arent ready for it. Automatic weapons are hard to get....until you can just 3D print one. And theres not much laws will do to stop that if someone decides to commit a crime.
LOL!
All I have to do is program the 5-axis to make 1000's of these for your and 1000's of AR's 10's & 15's and instantly turn it into an M-

Yes, fin Laws only affect the Law abiding which is often said.
There are already lots of illegal machine guns for sale out there!, they have been a hot item for many many years now. They are very valuable here in my state, even being illegal, people will trade vehicles, boats, ATVs, etc, all sorts of stuff for a newer one in good condition.
