Because according to the dems, blacks are too dumb to run their own lives and figure things out. Jim Crow is alive and well in the democratic party. It never left.
"Google Search, its ad algorithm, and YouTube have all been found to perpetuate racist stereotypes and white nationalist viewpoints," the senators wrote.
How to make machines, which can only function in accordance with the actual data they collect, reflect woke values. It's a problem.

White nationalists are probably the people in this world with the best grasp of reality. A well-designed machine or algorithm designed to learn about this world would be expected to notice the same things that white nationalists notice.
I think Dorsey should step down and Google should appoint a black person to run it.
But of course that won’t happen, because the white liberals that pander to black people are the actual racists. They use the media to demonize the white middle class, who are actually less racist than the liberal white elite.
White nationalists are probably the people in this world with the best grasp of reality. A well-designed machine or algorithm designed to learn about this world would be expected to notice the same things that white nationalists notice.
Can you imagine the reality when society does indeed allow the computers to make the decisions for us? They don't use feelings or emotions or twist things around. They use hard facts, critical statistics and data, and their algorithms reflect their findings.
And I think Booker knows what will happen when that day comes. People in the past are handed a problem to deal with, and instead of doing what needs to be done, they either kick the can down the road or just move to a new place where the problem is no longer around them. A computer's idea of solving a problem is often through process of elimination. Can't move the heart, lungs or brain. All you can do is either transplant the bad parts for new parts, or eliminate the virus completely to achieve a healthy body once again.

Could you imagine saying these things to your own child?
You are oppressed, a victim, since only white and asian kids are in advanced math we are going to cancel it so you won’t feel bad, you are hated by whites, you need special help bc you can’t do it alone, we’ll shame everyone into giving you special treatment, you can’t measure up so we’re going to let you cut in front of whites to get into college. Your kid would have no chance at success if this was your strategy.
I cannot even start to imagine that conversation. Even if a parent had a child with a disability, it would be detrimental to that child's ability to function to tell them that they had no chances in life. I'd go so far to say that it borders on child abuse.
Booker and other racial muck-rakers have found math, english and tests of any kind to all be racist so why not a search engine.
No doubt Booker & friends are merely shaking down google for a fat campaign donation and to throw some money at race consultants (ie. Bookers friends and\or family) in order to gain their absolution. Bishop Sharpton can't do it all himself after all.
