He should get one of those lawyers who can get police off the hook after they kill unarmed black men.
The dead man was the instigator, there was no intent, and the punch was not what finaly killed him. It was his physical condition that caused him to fall and hit his head. It sounds like the reverse of the defense of a policemans defense. He should get probation like policeman get.

Exactly, thats why the old man is dead. He should have thought first too. Didn't anyone tell that old white man that young black men are biologically predispositioned for violent acts and black on white crime is rampant. Why would he stick his hand in the lions cage anyway? You guys are not getting the word out.

If he has lived thus far trouble free it will prove that the old man provoked him. Why not the same standard for the "wise old man." He should know better, I know plenty of old white men who are wise enough not to verbally attack any one, racially or otherwise. The old man should have shown an amount of civility as to not get him self punched, that is not too much to ask.

The day civilized society accepts that violence is an appropriate response to words, is the day we cease to be a civilized society.
In some poor and uneducated parts of society, violence is the accepted norm in response to words. But that is what makes them poor and uneducated parts of society. And this is something that crosses all racial boundaries.
There is a reason educated people made laws against violence, while making laws protecting speech. If civilized, educated people were to start accepting violence as a normal response to speech, the result would be chaos.
And in the end, sticks and stones. How hard is it to never physically assault anyone who hasn't physically assaulted you first?

Who started it? Nobody would have ever had to know he was a violent black man if the old white man had just treated him with respect. Didn't this white man get the memo about how black people are savages?

Except there is recourse other than violence. Don't serve him. Tell him to leave the store. Call the police if he doesn't leave the store.
Violence should never be an option, let alone, first option.
