One exceptional case (such as the original story) does not negate the risk to democracy of voter disenfranchisement.
So then how about buying a house, or flying on a plane?

Are those also "disenfranchising" endeavors?

You all realize that voter ID wouldn't have changed anything -- lol. It was a mail in ballot -- like the one President Trump used. The man could easily have traced his dead wife's signature.

So yeah --- voter ID that is accessible and free should be provided to all.......

None of which are rights.

Try again.

The other way around.

Racists justify their racism by clinging to an unfounded belief that everyone is just as racist as they are - just like petty thieves who justify theft by holding on to the idea that anyone in their circumstances would steal.

Or, in this case, just like Republicans who feel OK about their vote fraud by subscribing to the comforting illusion that they're actually victims of fraud themselves.

Requiring ID for those things is disenfranchising by definition, yes. Thankfully, those two things are not constitutional rights, so it's not a concern.

Colorado already requires voter id for in-person votes. This voter fraud occurred in Colorado.

Voter id didn't stop the voter fraud.

For THIS particular case, I don't think a voter ID would have prevented it... but they did catch him AND I doubt his actions would have swayed the outcome of an election.

I suspect a whole lot of them would argue that in their circumstances, anyone reasonable woud have done the same. But I suspect we're parsing an old saying just bit more than it can bear.

Love how the conversation is entirely about voter fraud and no one gives a crap that he killed his wife. I mean, on this board, I'm not surprised but....
