All right, most of us don't literally remember, but we'd know about it. John F. Kennedy's book, Profiles In Courage, was praising politicians who put their principles above party. Probably most Republicans would see that as a quaint idea today.

But the title survives in a prize given out by the Kennedy foundation. I'm figuring that Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney may be candidates next time around, and some of the other Reps who've spoken out against Trump.

You don't know the difference between a private diary and a published book?

But, yes, he saw right away that Hitler would be significant, to put it mildly.

JFK's book was largely ghostwritern by Ted Sorensen.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prof...f%20the%20book.

Also foolish to think that Democrats don't do the same thing. For example the JFK awards go to Republicans who do Democrat positions. Not Democrats who do Republican things. That is a way of putting party politics over the country. Also Democrats just applauded or basically accepted 500+ riots and insurrection acts because of politics.

Amazingly soft on Hitler.

Excerpt:
“You can easily understand how that within a few years Hitler will emerge from the hatred that surrounds
him now as one of the most significant figures who ever lived,” Kennedy wrote in his diary in 1945.

Response: Opinion

If the Left see nothing wrong with murdering ,plundering, and toppling statues
a person like Hitler is irrelevant. I'm waiting for the left to raise him from the
ashes of global hated just like he did the innocent victims of Dachau.

Yet you don’t see how politicized that all is.

The Kennedys were all terrible people.

Serious question - is there any example of a time when the Democrats ever put principles over party?

"Profiles in Courage" was most likely written by Ted Sorensen and research assistants. Someone else did the work and JFK took the credit. I have no respect for anybody in the Kennedy family.

...so, so much 'whitewashing' about the 'beloved' jfk...wonder why there's no mention in his book of his homosexual lover, Lem Billings, who, by the way, had a room at the white house...go look it up, or don't...

How about the the rest of his quote about Hitler:

“He had boundless ambition for his country which rendered him a menace to the peace of the world, but he had a mystery about him in the way he lived and in the manner of his death that will live and grow after him,” he added. “He had in him the stuff of which legends are made.”

All you have to do is see how many history channel shows still air every week about Hitler and the Nazi's 75 years after his death to know this is true. I don't see it as praise but a statement of fact. People still are fascinated by the Zodiac killer and many other serial killers. It doesn't mean they praise them. It's ironic that 18 years later, JFK became a legend as well.
