Jim Jones once said:
"I love communism so much, I would die for it. But if I were to die, I’d take a thousand people with me."

He was a friend of Angela Davis, the violent black communist revolutionary from the 1960's. He wanted Communism, and his attempt at it is well documented in Guyana, where when Utopia failed to materialize he passed out cyanide laced glasses of Kool-Aid that resulted in the mass suicide of 918 people.

This pretty much sums up what's waiting at the end of the road the progressives are taking us on

All they care about is power, according to Karl Marx's conflict theory, so that they can overturn western civilization and all norms that support it. The reason, is to eliminate the barriers holding us back from achieving "Utopia" and that anyone in the way is on the wrong side of history and only they have critical consciousness (being "woke") and they know the truth, whereas everyone else has false consciousness and they have to be made to go along (or face the Gulag along the way)

Problem is, Utopia on Earth is a fantasy pipe dream that ignores all aspects of human behavior. The Utopia will never happen, cannot happen, and every time the activists come to that realization a lot of dead corpses pile up.

Fun fact regarding the origin of the word "Utopia":
Coined by Thomas More 1551 from Modern Latin Utopia, literally means "nowhere"

Jones had severe psychological problems & was severely drug addicted, esp. toward the end. This was primary and his life philosophy would be impossible to decipher to the damage he had, which only got worse w/ time.

Are there still people around who don't know that Jim Jones was a leftist?

And yet, he got close to 1000 people to go along with his insanity. Presumably 1000 people who were by and large not mentally ill, but instead easily manipulated as so many are today on the left, especially those so self-traumatized by the caricature of Trump that they have joined the Woke cult.

People who don't stand on principle and don't think critically (in the actual sense of the word), are doomed to be manipulated.

Yeah, except for the whole settlement in Guyana, and the currying of favor with the San Francisco political elite, and of course the "revolutionary suicide."

But other than that, yeah.

The Woke must prove their Wokefulness by drinking poisoned Kool-Aid to prove they are dedicated to the cause.

As for the enigmatic Reverend Jim Jones, who was he? The Indiana-born Jones, a former community organizer, was a committed Marxist since at least the age of 18. (His idol was Mao Tse-tung.) He believed himself to be the reincarnation of Lenin and dreamed of a socialist America. Jones began attending Communist-party meetings in 1951 and was soon a full-fledged radical.

An atheist, Jones cleverly realized, quite early on, that religion could serve as a vehicle to attract followers to his social-justice views and his “church.” Masquerading as a Christian preacher, he ultimately founded the People’s Temple, which grew substantially thanks to followers’ donations. Jones would later readily admit that he asked himself what would be the best method to spread Marxism and decided on doing so by infiltrating Christians and preaching Marxism disguised as religion. In a 1977 New York Times interview, his wife reportedly admitted that Jones was promoting Marxism by mobilizing people via religion, and that he referred to the Bible as a paper idol he must destroy.

(In response to loud ovations to hundreds of people with Jim Jones in the Guyana interior, Angela states: ) I attempted to say, though not very eloquently, that we are with you, and we appreciate everything you have done. And we know you are going to win, and, in the final analysis, we are all going to win.

We’re all going to win… All of us… Every single one of us, we’re winning!
