The zeal in the Trump administration’s efforts to hunt leakers led to the extraordinary step of subpoenaing communications metadata from members of Congress — a nearly unheard-of move outside of corruption investigations. If its the trump admin, then it's also the obama admin, period....

Where does it say trump ordered it? Keep tap dancing jojo....

Without a doubt, because they knew it was unethical and seemingly illegal.

If this were a "clean," above board investigation into credible wrongdoing of Trump's political enemies, Bill Barr would have held a press conference to brief the American people about it. Trump would've wanted that to be public.

I wish I could have a genuine, honest conversation with a Trump supporter about these types of stories. I'm fascinated about how they would justify Trump's blatant abuse of power. But most Trump supporters don't come into threads like this one because they don't want to talk about Trump's wrongdoings.

The link says the DOJ was investigating politicians in the House Intelligence Committee. Well, this would include Rep. Eric Swalwell, who was sleeping with a Chinese spy. This was also about the same time Sen. Feinstein's Chauffeur was found to be a Chinese spy. So there seems to be a legitimate reason to have the DOJ looking into these people.

Nope, you're the one who's confused if you think Obama was not spying on and going after citizens, journalists, politicians, etc.

May as well beat your head against the wall, instead of trying to talk common sense to political hacks. They know the truth, they just choose to pretend ignorance instead.

There you go - throwing reality into the mix. Doesn't fit the dem narrative so it isn't mentioned elsewhere. Notice how all of the leaking and media fabricated mayhem ceased when Dems took back control of DC? Isn't that just precious.

Being impeached or not isn't what is on trial and at stake (conviction vs. acquittal) in what is nominally called an impeachment trial, but rather removal from office or not is what is at stake.

Impeachment is a House action.

Acquittal in the Senate trial doesn't make the President less impeached.

Trump will forever be the first President successfully impeached twice (an unsuccessful impeachment would be if an article of impeachment made it to the House floor, but then failed to pass a floor vote).

Do Trump supporters feel confident enough that there wasn't anything inappropriate about Barr's investigations to where they'd support a bipartisan ethics committee inquiry into all of this?

And the first president impeached without being accused of violating any federal law.

Trump was impeached by partisan Democrats and spiteful politicians, over their opinions regarding the assumptions they made about his motivations for specific actions or thoughts he conveyed. Trump was never impeached for committing any actual federal crime.

The Democrats will look very bad in the history books for their politically partisan impeachments.
