Republicans want to impose their will everyone via MINORITY rule. They should consider developing policies that appeal to the majority of voters in the US. Seriously, can anyone list the policy goals of today's conservatives? They are about little more these days than promoting constant division over cultural issues that have no real importance in the lives of most Americans. There are plenty of real conservatives left in all parts of the country, but they are being outshouted by the nutball fringe.

Just stop talking about this. That is the first step to improving civil discourse.

"Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman, who endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008, said that having a Black History Month was “ridiculous” and that the best way to end racism today is to “stop talking about it.”"

https://www.cnsnews.com/blog/michael...-black-history

This is true for so many things. It's like picking at a scab. It will never heal.

Red. Both sides need to refocus on the reason the USA exists, and fully support the fact that western civilization needs to stay strong because it can benefit EVERYONE. Anyone who can't do that is free to go elsewhere, that's the beauty of our society, but if they'd rather tear it down they should be banished.

I'm not about breaking the country up, I'm about driving those who want to destroy it out of any position of power and influence and letting those who are here by birth or choice keep it strong.

That was always the hope. "If there's a national disaster, America will come back together. Deep down we're still all the same people who love our country and will pull together in a crisis."

Nope. That didn't happen. Covid drove us even farther apart. Sad to say but this country is broken.
Not COVID, Theory. One side, I’ll let you guess which one, saw this as a way to regain power to “finish” their agenda (read: War of Position).

The South seceded in 1861 when Lincoln’s election demonstrated to them that they could no longer expect to control the federal government. Secession is for those who see themselves as losing.

Increasing numbers of present-day conservatives are reaching the same conclusion, which is bad news for the future of democracy.

Replace it with MAJORITY and it's like you were looking in the mirror when you said that. All that garbage about constant division over meaningless cultural issues. My G-d you leftists divide and subdivide our culture faster than a damn virus with your insanely growing taxonomy of gender, racial, and sexual identities. The only thing modulating the growth rate of your bat@h!t crazy new culture-verse is the need to invent new words to define and rank everyone based on our most superficial differences. Doubly tough for you since with the other hand you're waving a wand to banish existing words and thoughts just as fast as you can.

I guess you think this is a democracy. It's not. Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner ... which is why we have a republic instead. Were you aware of that? Are you aware of de Tocqueville and James Madison's concerns about preventing the "tyranny of the majority"?
