It all started when the teen reached down, but I don't know why so much happened after. Although all the friends starting to fight with security and cops will always end badly.

I've seen enough videos of perps reaching back and pulling out a gun to understand why they tased him. What did that crowd of people think they were gonna do? Take on the police and win? Suppose they did "win", what exactly would be the prize?

Look at the video before you automatically take the black kid’s side. The kid had his hands up, and then he lowered one of them to reach into his backpack. That could well have been a gun, and the cop acted quickly and appropriately.

P.S. these kids are unbelievably disrespectful to the police. They should have just kept their mouths shut. That’s not how I behaved when I was young!

I agree. In full speed (without the luxury of a video) the way he reached down was bound to draw a reaction. And it was only one hand too, so it really did look like he was reaching for something.

Plus, they only tased him. They didn't shoot him, which we have seen before. He's actually fortunate because the way he reached could have gotten him shot by a real gun.

Was the neon green hotel security, or they also cops?

Oh good....glad to hear. I thought you were blaming the police.

The police handled this completely correctly. I’m impressed with how fast they were - his dropping his hand to the laser hit seemed like just 1 second.

Well if the kid was looking for a payday, he bet wrong. Got tased for what bozo?

On the other side, this was all over vaping and somewhat disrespectful kids. I’m glad he only got tased. If he where shot, the outcome would have been very very bad, considering the camera angle.
