Of course, a huge part of Afghanistan’s economy is opium. We would have had MANY more US casualties than we did if our mission had been to obliterate their entire drug trade/economy.

Afghanistan is not a real country. The clans will be fighting forever. Not even the Taliban can unite the country fully, but they will eventually control most of it, just like they did before 9/11.

We were stupid to try to nation build there.

However, leaving now is a dumb idea. The Chinese are about to benefit big time from our decision to leave.
