A new Bank of America report predicts consumer prices will continue to soar for up to four years, as the Federal Reserve‘s preferred measure of inflation hits its highest level in three decades.
In a note on Friday, BofA’s top strategist Michael Hartnett predicted inflation will remain in the 2-4 percent range over the next two to four years.
U.S. inflation has averaged 3 percent in the past 100 years, 2 percent in the 2010s, and 1 percent in 2020, but will annualize at 8 percent in 2021, Bofa predicted in the note....
As consumers deal with starkly higher prices than a year ago, the Federal Reserve has maintained its stance that high inflation, the increase in the price consumers pay for goods and services, isn’t expected to last very long.
And while inflation’s 13-year high, as measured by the annual change in the consumer-price index from a year earlier, has caused concern, the central bank restated its belief that the rise in prices is “largely reflecting transitory factors.”
A sudden burst in consumer demand from the economy reopening and an imbalance in supply disruptions are among the main factors driving up prices compared with the same period last year.
Nobody here cares. As long as their stocks are pumped up and the gravy train keeps rolling in with handouts, stimulus checks, welfare, free money for all.
