Fury?!?!?

Why are you furious over ethnic Russians wanting to be ruled by a Russian government?

Crimeans were not forced from their homes after than annexation. When Israelis settle in the west bank they FORCE Palestinians from their homes.

Why not show some fury towards your own allies.

The Crimean "residents" for whom you weep are ethnic Russians by and large. They do not oppose annexation. A minority do of course.

All of our significant troubles with Putin began with that event. At the time I was more open minded about him, even following the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko; now Putin is an evil autocrat, pure and simple. The Crimea invasion in 2014 led directly to suspicions of Russian collaboration with Trump in 2016, and all that followed. But it did open up the possibility of using the Ukraine as a buffer state against further Russian aggression. I don't think our relations with Russia can fundamentally improve until Putin is gone.

So, let’s see if there’s more fury for what Russia did to Crimea. It’s much worse than what we see in Israel, of course, since the Palestinians are led by terrorists who want Israel obliterated, and the Crimean residents of course have not threatened Russia.

Liberals WERE upset by the Russian annexation of Crimea. If the US had more influence over Russia maybe we could have done something. For example, if we were supplying Russia with billions of $$ in military aid, we could cut them off. But alas, there was not a lot we could do to influence a large, rival state like Russia. On the other hand, an allied state like Israel that benefits from US largesse might listen if we spoke up.

What did Russia do to Crimea?

Lets first talk about what Ukraine did to Crimea, and why a significant number of people wanted to join Russia, and basically the entire Ukraine military there defected over, and not even a shot fired in its defense, lol.

Ukraine, Kiev specifically, has treated Crimea like crap for years. Who in the hell would want to be part of a country that treats you like garbage?

They did not ask to be part of Ukraine, the USSR forced them to be part of the SSR, then got stuck there after the USSR collapsed. All was fine until Kiev revoked the semi-autonomous status of Crimea, a status that was part of the agreement to declare independence from the USSR, then took every effort to ostracize and remove their voice from the politics of Ukraine. The straw that broke the camels back was the removal of Yanukovych, a person Crimea voted for.

And there was a fury, what do you think all those sanctions are about? Russia's economy has essentially stalled out since then.

And fact is, Russia will destroy itself in a fight for Crimea, Crimea has deep historic significance to Russia and a source of some crazy pride and stubbornness, a trait many in the West never really understand nor has (thankfully), they will drag the entire world down defending it.

Russia hasn't murdered 79 heads-of-State in cold blood like America has.

Russia never attempted to murder Prime Minister Nehru of India, but the US did for the heinous inhumane crime against humanity of Declaring Neutrality While Non-White/Non-Christian.

Russia needs Crimea to neutralize the No-Fly Zone the US and Britain intend to set up in western Russia after you illegally annex Iran and then illegally annex Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and Turkmenistan and then illegally annex the eastern Russian republics.

Once you illegally annex Iran, you'll have air, highway and rail access to the 5 Central Asian states from the Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.

Then once you illegally annex the 5 Central Asian States, you can smuggle weapons to "pro-Democracy groups" (snicker) in the eastern Russian republics to foment revolution.

Russia would surely move to put down the rebellions in its eastern republics, because even Joe Hiden said he would nuke pro-Democracy groups in America.

To prevent that, the US and Britain declare a No-Fly Zone east of the Ural Mountains.

The aircraft used to maintain the integrity of the No-Fly Zone will be launched from Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey (and of course the Central Asian States.)

Russia needs Crimea to:

1) use as a naval base to support surface groups screening for air attacks launched from Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey; and
2) as bases for surface-to-air missile units; and
3) as forward operating bases to conduct interdiction missions against NATO aircraft launched from Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey; and
4) support bomber assets conducting missile attacks on NATO air bases in Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Questions?

Pretty much as nonviolent as you can get.

It was on like 30 years ago when it was all just part of one nation the USSR.

Are there any open air concentration camps?

Of course there is no fury. We don't expect most other groups to be able to control themselves. Even though Russians are of the white race they are regarded as "Orientals" culturally, see The Orientalist: Solving the Mystery of a Strange and Dangerous Life by Tom Reiss, and my review in What book are you reading?

Less is expected of almost everyone. It is only civilized Western cultures, and more especially the Jews, that are expected to fight with two hands tied behind their back.
