Nah, that would be un-American.
Prosperity, Independence and Success requires ENERGY to fuel a growing Economy and maintain or increase the Standard of Living and Quality of Life. Everyone, including The Poor have all benefited from this.

Your philosophy would hurt everyone so why don't YOU use less Energy and stop trying to CONTROL OTHERS?

Hypocritical and Dishonest.

Inhuman actually. Humans don't tend to accept living worse and worse in each generation. That's not how we're wired. We are creatures that always try to make life better for our children than it was for ourselves. So we're going to need a lot more power that makes a lot less pollution. Nuclear is a pretty good option for that.

That shows a real lack of understanding - how do you think a Nuclear plant on a Sub or Carrier survives. I have personally operated a Nuke plant in conditions much worse than an earthquake with no issue.

You're waving off the known loss of 18,500GWh with something that has yet to be installed and has no storage capability for when it's dark etc. (the key letter being the "h" that is missing from the 13 GW in your post)

It's not that I don't appreciate green energy but it seems that CA makes a lot of power decisions based upon wants and politics and not hard realities.

Also, CA has to do far better than just break even on the exchange as they have to produce a couple % more each year just to break even with increasing demand due to EV's and so forth.

The USA is the Saudi Arabia of coal. We have something like 25% of the world's coal reserves. Importing coal into the USA would make about as much sense importing corn or wheat.

I stopped driving a while ago. I expect I will be priced out of the internet in a few years. Moving from my suburban house to an urban apartment may also be necessary, but home ownership is a decision/mistake not easily undone. I may be trying other adaptations for less consumption as they become feasible or necessary. Or I could just die.
